Dr Louise Garcia-Rodriguez
Perinatal and Reproductive Psychiatrist
MBChB, BSc, MPsychiatry, FRANZCP
How Louise works
Dr Louise Garcia-Rodriguez works exclusively with women in the perinatal period, from those trying to conceive, pregnant, or in the first years postpartum. Many of the women she sees have been told their symptoms are "just hormones" or "just early motherhood." Hormonal change is central to how she assesses and treats perinatal mental health, not just background noise.
What she focuses on
Her focus areas include perinatal mood disorders, including anxiety, depression, and OCD, alongside sleep, nutrition, and other lifestyle factors that affect mental health during pregnancy and the postpartum period. She works closely with obstetricians and GPs and takes a practical, medication-literate approach to care.
Professional background
Dr Garcia-Rodriguez previously worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Royal Women's Hospital and with the Statewide Women's Mental Health Service at The Alfred, before moving into private practice. She is an avid contributor to psychiatric education and research, and is a member of the RANZCP Section of Perinatal and Infant Psychiatry.
Outside the clinic, she is a Marmite lover, spends her downtime with her own kids, and is a strong advocate for women's health being taken seriously.
Louise will commence consulting with WARM on Wednesdays, in September 2026
