Emily Hodges

Nurse Practitioner
NP, BN, Grad Dip MH, MANP

How Emily works
Emily works with women when motherhood feels intense, overwhelming, or harder than expected, especially when exhaustion, guilt, or self-blame have started to take over.

Her approach is grounded in the understanding that mental health is never just one thing. Emily looks at what’s happening across the body, the nervous system, relationships, and life circumstances, so women don’t feel reduced to a diagnosis or left trying to hold everything together on their own.

In sessions, Emily brings calm, clarity, and containment. She helps women feel steadier first  (physically and emotionally) before asking them to process more than they can manage.

What she focuses on
Emily has a particular focus on postnatal depletion, perinatal mental health, and early infant–parent regulation, especially during the often overlooked fourth trimester.

She works with women navigating sleep deprivation, hormonal shifts, nervous system strain, birth trauma, NICU experiences, and the cumulative load of early motherhood, including the pressure to “get it right” in a world full of conflicting advice.

Emily’s work is informed by more than 17 years in acute and emergency psychiatry, giving her a rare ability to recognise when someone needs stabilisation, medical assessment, practical support, or simply permission to slow down.

Professional background
Emily is a Nurse Practitioner with advanced training in mental health nursing. Within her scope of practice, she can prescribe medications and request pathology tests, allowing for integrated assessment and treatment where appropriate.

She has trained with specialists at The Royal Children’s Hospital in infant mental health and parent–child connection, and works closely with psychiatrists and psychologists at WARM to provide coordinated, whole-person care. She continues advanced training in evidence-informed early parenting and perinatal mental health
