Dr Rebecca McStay

Clinical Psychologist
BBSc (Hons) DPsych (Clinical) MAPS

How Rebecca works
Rebecca works with individuals and families when inner experiences feel contradictory, confusing, or at odds with the life they’re trying to live, particularly across all paths to parenthood.

Her work is relational, trauma-informed, and deeply curious. Rebecca helps people understand why different parts of themselves respond the way they do, especially when emotions, needs, or values feel in conflict. Rather than trying to eliminate or override these parts, she supports people to listen to them, make sense of them, and respond with clarity rather than self-criticism.

Sessions with Rebecca are thoughtful and grounded, helping people move from “something isn’t working” to a clearer understanding of what needs to change.

What she focuses on
Rebecca works with anxiety, low mood, trauma, identity shifts, and the complexities of parenting.

She has experience supporting people through perinatal transitions, parts-based work, and long-standing patterns shaped by earlier relationships, especially when old coping strategies once helped, but now feel exhausting or limiting.

Her therapeutic approach draws on ACT, Schema Therapy, DBT, CBT, ERP, attachment-based approaches, and Circle of Security Parenting. These approaches are used flexibly to support insight, regulation, and meaningful change, not as rigid techniques, but as tools to help people live more aligned, intentional lives.

Professional background
Rebecca is a senior psychologist with over a decade of experience across public and private settings. She is a board-approved supervisor and has a research background in neurodivergence and early intervention for eating disorders.

Rebecca consults with WARM on Thursdays.
